Otto Builders are incredible! just by looking in YouTube, Facebook and Twitter we gathered our first series of remarkable developments that are contributing to Otto DIY open robot project in certain way.

This is the start of a series of "spotlight blog post" about outstanding Otto Builders and their openness to the community Starting from Jason Snow from UK! here is what he said:

"I made a basic Otto from Thingiverse and then noticed the Otto plus calling for the community to help develop and evolve Otto further, I bought a max 7219 led matrix and set about adding it and debugging your 'to do' code to work with it"

Not wanting to leave out Tito. I gave him the same functionality as Otto DIY+(PLUS)

Before Otto I made a Scout. So with this in mind and the fact I had previously printed wheels and had rubber orings I decided to give Otto plus some wheels.

Jason says: "I added Bluetooth and with the Zowi app set about tweaking the code further"

Next was to modify the original STL files to allow the additional room in the body and head to allow the led matrix to fit.

Also testing #starwars sounds for Otto :D

more about me...

I live in England and work as an industrial electrician, my hobbies include robotics and electronics, I have been using microcontrollers for a long time, my only claim to fame is a competitor on UK robot wars

We used three micro controllers and made our own PCB's in our robot.

video of Otto DIY with wheels avoiding obstacles in a very accurate way will have an APP soon by Jason Snow

I have been tinkering with electronics and PCB's since, designing various Arduino boards for schools and hobbiest. Now i already designed a new custom PCB design for Otto DIY the idea will be to test this design with the community to have the ideal board for all bipedal family robots of Otto.

Jason is a great example of contribution back to the community find his design public and open here: https://www.thingiverse.com/s4snow/about

We will continue spotlighting remarkable works of Otto Builders and gathering ideas to keep growing the community and the possibilities of Otto, please write to us if you think you are already the next Otto Builder to be featured even with simple improvements; if you have something to share don't be shy ;)

Otto Builders are the community of Otto DIY

Are your robots remarkable too? make sure you are part of the community!
